This mango flavored milkshake is a simple drink but it tastes absolutely delicious.

If you have ever wondered what to do with leftover mangoes or are just longing for a quick, refreshing drink in the summer to beat the heat, then this mango shake is for you!

You can use fresh or frozen mangoes for this recipe. Either way, you’re sure to make a delicious, refreshing, and tasty milkshake!

You can make this creamy mango milkshake recipe with ice cream or you can make it without.

You can even add different fruits or berries such as bananas and strawberries.

  • Mangoes: Chopped. You can use either fresh or frozen mangoes for this recipe or even canned mango pulp. If you are using fresh mangoes, peel the skin off the mangoes before use. If you are using frozen mango, you do not need to use the ice cubes as the frozen mango will provide a coolnessto the milkshake.
    • Pick mangoes with are ripe or any variety and avoid using mangoes which have a lot of fibre.
  • Milk of choice
  • Sugar or maple syrup: Or you can use any sweetener of your choice.
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

This mango shake serves 2. The quantities can easily be multiplied to suit how many serves you need.

You will need a food processor or blender to make this mango milkshake.

Step One: If using fresh mangoes, peel and chop the mango into chunks. If you are using frozen mango that is already cut up, you can skip this step.

Mango, milk, and maple syrup in a blender before blending.

Step Two: Place all ingredients in a food processor or blender and blend together until the liquid is thick and smooth.

If you are using frozen mangoes, pulse the mixture first to break down the mango pieces. Then blend until smooth. Serve.

Tips for Success

  • The sweetness of your milkshake will depend on the ripeness of your mangoes. If you use sweeter mangoes, you may not need to add any sweetener to your milkshake. Taste your milkshake before adding any sweetener and add only if necessary.
  • If you are using frozen mango, you may not need to add any ice cubes as the frozen mango will provide a coolness to the milkshake.
  • To make a thicker mango smoothie, you could add vanilla ice cream or a small banana.
  • If you use sweeter mangoes you will use less sweetener. Which will make your drink healthier.

Substitutions / Variations

  • To make a vegan mango shake, simply use a plant based milk of your choice. If you use a sweetened plant based milk, you may not need to add any sweetener to your vegan milkshake.
  • Variations you can try:
    • Add another fruit, such as banana or strawberry for a different flavor combination. Add these before blending.
    • Add a dash of vanilla extract (essence) to your mango milkshake. This will give a light vanilla flavor to the shake.
    • Add your favorite ice-cream to the shake, or if you can’t decide, you can use vanilla ice cream.
    • Use a flavored syrup, such as vanilla syrup or strawberry syrup.
    • Add whipped cream on top.
  • Freeze this mango shake using ice cube moulds or popsicle moulds for a cold sweet treat later.
  • To make a thinner milkshake, you can add more milk or ice cubes. If you want a thicker milkshake, you can reduce the amount of milk or add other fruit or more mango.

Serving Suggestions

Top with whipped cream, add a scoop of ice cream, or even add chopped mango pieces.

Storage

Any leftover milkshake you have can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days. However, it is best to consume this drink on the day it is made.

You can also freeze this milkshake and make popsicles or ice cubes to enjoy it as a frozen mango treat later.

  • 1 ½ cup (250 grams, 8.82 ounces) mangoes chopped (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup milk of choice
  • 1 ½ teaspoons sugar or maple syrup optional
  • Handful of ice cubes optional

  • If using fresh mangoes, peel and chop the mango into chunks. If you are using frozen mango that is already cut up, you can skip this step.
