Ingredients

  • 750 grams (1.50 pounds) boneless skinless chicken breast or boneless skinless chicken thigh fillets, cut into bite sized pieces
  • Salt and pepper to season chicken
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 60 grams (2.12 ounces) plain flour (all purpose flour)
  • 2 tablespoons neutral flavored oil such as vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon (1-2 cloves) minced garlic
  • 1 ½ tablespoon white vinegar or rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice or to taste
  • cup (90 grams, 3.17 ounces) honey
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame seeds lightly toasted
  • Fresh parsley roughly chopped, to garnish
  • Red pepper flakes chili flakes, to garnish

Instructions

  • Mix chicken pieces with salt and pepper and garlic powder.
  • In a shallow dish, place the flour. Then, coat the chicken in flour, shaking off any excess.
  • Heat oil in a large frying pan over high heat. Once hot, add the chicken and cook until the chicken is golden and cooked through.
  • Reduce heat to medium and add the minced garlic. Saute for about 1 minute. Be careful not to burn your garlic.
  • Stir through the vinegar, soy sauce, lemon juice, honey, and sesame seeds.
  • Bring the sauce to a simmer and simmer for about 1 minute, or until the sauce slightly thickens. (see note 1). Taste for seasoning and adjust as desired.
  • Turn off heat and remove pan from heat. Serve with your choice of rice, or pasta, sprinkled with lightly toasted sesame seeds, roughly chopped fresh parsley, and red pepper flakes.

Notes

  1.  If you find the sauce is too thick, add a bit of water and stir through.
